In the early seventeenth century, King Gustav Adolf II of Sweden commissioned a warship that was later christened the Vasa. The ship represented a substantial outlay of resources, particularly the oak from which the vessel would be built, a wood so valuable that unauthorized cutting was a capital offense. Perhaps because of this substantial investment, King Gustav Adolf closely oversaw the construction process, attempting to ensure that the Vasa would fully realize his expectations. My father –in-law was born in about 1863 in a small area called Efefe in the district of Nongoma right in the heart of Zululand. His name was Mpikayivuswa Mathe. He married Natalina Mngamezulu in 1908 and they were blessed with eight children: five boys and three girls. Being loyal to his King, he fought in many wars defending the Zulu Kingdom. When the war was over he decided to go looking for a job in the city of Durban to support his family. He found it in the harbor unloading the goods that came by ship from other countries. On Saturday, November 8, 2009 training sessions were held in two separate meetinghouses in Johannesburg, South Africa as part of the adult leadership of 6 local stakes. Under the direction of the Africa Southeast Area Presidency, Brother Russell Osguthorpe, General President of the Sunday School and Brother David Beck, General President of the Young Men, participated in the training sessions with members of the Area Presidency.
